Greta Thunberg in Bristol

SolCell helping young activists have their voice

A finished off-grid power station: a stack of OPzS lead-acid traction cells with red caps, four Fronius string inverters and three Victron Quattro inverter/chargers, fully labelled.

When Greta Thunberg was coming to Bristol for a young activist rally, it was vital that the event did not demonstrate any behaviours counter to the cause. Using diesel generators would have undermined the crucial message being shared, especially at a time of heightened scrutiny of environmental activism.

SolCell was optimal for the project. Our 10 kW system powered a large-format sound system for a crowd that was reported to be over 30,000 strong. Sound was clear and powerful, the power was unwavering and the sun never came out. This meant it was fully powered by the batteries, which had been pre-charged by the sun.
