Clifton Scouts
Grid connection too expensive? Build your own power station.

The 7th Clifton Scout Group in Bristol had a problem: their campsite needed power, but the National Grid demanded a five-figure sum to install a cable and would then charge more, forever, for the energy used.
The scout group got in contact to see if we could help.
As they only use the site in summer, we established that an entirely off-grid power system was suitable for them.
Solar panels on the roof, big batteries in the shed and a clever control system mean that they now get free energy, forever. Better still, our off-grid power station cost less than the grid connection would have.
As there is excess power once the batteries are charged, we programmed the system to use that excess power to heat a large hot water tank, so the system provides both free energy and free hot water.
