Heating and cooling from the sun

On an industrial scale

Two Autonomous Developments engineers installing a ceiling-cassette air-conditioning unit, one steadying a yellow Werner ladder while the other works in the cassette overhead.

Part of our mission is to reduce the need for fossil fuels, as they cause environmental harm and are scarce and costly. Instead, we like to use electricity, as we can make it ourselves at close to zero marginal cost.

This was a key challenge at Skyline Park, in a large industrial facility that needed to maintain climate-controlled environments for the workers there.

Gas is typically used for heating most properties. We avoid using fossil fuels and have been able to heat a large industrial facility with air-source heat pumps. These systems can be powered by solar and batteries, meaning that both heating and cooling can be achieved without paying for gas or grid electricity.

When it comes to summer, the system operates in reverse and cools the property.

Powered entirely by the sun, this project means ideal working conditions, from free energy.
